After a brief dash over some wonderful bridges we made our way across the state of Washington to Bremerton where had only a 5 minute wait to board to ferry to Seattle. A truly stunning way to arrive in a city that seems to float on water. Last time I was here was 20 years ago and for the whole 10 days in April it rained. As you can see from the photos - today was a different experience meterogically!

We took the opportunity to captialise on the weather and went for a harbour tour boat trip. The sun was warm - 23℃ and the sky blue - with an occasional peek at Mt Rainer covered in its 23 glaciers! Apparently it is 5000 years overdue an eruption which makes it the most potentially dangerous volcano on the planet. experts say it could blow today, tomorrow or in 5000 years time - the locals don't seem too bothered but do have volcano evacuation routes worked out!

The water offers stunning views of Downtown Seattle with it modest skyscrapers and stunning Space Needle. The waterfront is alive with restaurants and boats and many cruise ships put in here before heading off to Alaska. We had an early dinner at Ivar's Acres of Clams on Pier 54 of Seattle's waterfront. The meal was excellent with wonderful views out across the harbour. Truly a memorable occasion. It also gave me a chance to try one of Seattle's many microbrewery beers - very nice - especially with Prawn Linguini!

We then navigated our way to our motel (Marco Polo) for an early evening as tomorrow promises to be another full day!
