Where I stayed
The fog that was rolling in from the Pacific yesterday evening had thickened during the night. We abandoned a quick photo raid on Lombard Street and held it over until our return visit in a week or so. The Golden Gate Bridge was ethereal in its beauty and it like riding any other bit of Freeway - a pity.
We pressed on northwards following CA1 - the Pacific Coast Highway.Ostensibly our trip is following this route from LA to Seattle and back again. Today this became impractical for three reasons:
Eventually we reached the Giant Redwood (Sequoia) Forest and enjoyed exploring some more of these very gentle and endearing giants. We visited the famous drive-thru tree and enjoyed many others on our tour. we decided to take a detour through Honeydew and Petronia and on to Ferndale. Eventually we got to Fortuna where we will stay then night at the Travel Inn motel. I will sleep very well tonight.

- There were dozens of cyclists on the road slowing down traffic.
- It was foggy and not much could be seen.
- Too many other drivers seemed to be of the variety that only come out once year!
