I headed west along Rosencrans to Manhattan Beach. As I drove the drizzle got heavier and heavier and unsurprisingly, unlike Saturday, parking wasn't a problem. Rather get soaked in the chilly mist, I decamped to one of the many coffee shops that populate the compact Downtown area. There are always papers to read and everywhere has free wi-fi - so civilised in that respect. Coffee, read and surf - a pleasant way to spend some time.
I aborted the beach trip and headed up to Los Angeles Farmers Market up on W 3rd Street. I didin't take any pictures as it was pretty much like all the other Farmers Markets I've been to except this one has a Hollywood tinge. I was able to grab some lunch whilst watching the Stoke v Everton game live - surely two of he most boring teams in the Premier League?
After lunch I went next door to The Grove - a very upmarket shopping 'street' where it is common to run into some celebs - I didn't see any but CBS were recording some trailer links for broadcast for one of their shows - their studios were in the next block - no they were the next block.
After this I scuttled back to the Landmark Cinema and was just in time to catch the 1:20 showing of Sound of my Voice which is an excellent film - review can be found here. This time I was in a regular screen with big comfy reclining seats and lots of leg room. Early showings were cheaper too and the parking free - a great deal all round.
As I had some time to spare I called in at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Culver City. I had passed it many times as I trundled up and down 405 and had made a note to visit if possible. It's just like any other Shopping Mall - developed by the same company that built the Shepherd's Bush and Olympic Park centres in London.
I then did a final bit of shopping in preparation for Katrina's arrival tomorrow and grabbed a sandwich to eat back at the motel. A quiet evening in, catching up and watching some TV. tomorrow will be a quiet morning then off to LAX to return my car, pick up Katrina get another car and head north to Porterville.
