6 am Leave the house.
7 am At the airport. Eat Wendy's breakfast sandwich. Slightly tired and confused. Extremely aware of all the details of my surroundings. Girl with apparent giant nipple transplant at airport. Tired looking soon-to-be bride with dress in bag. Guy drops bagel on ground, still eats it. 5 second rule. Still raining in MD. Military guys coming home. Very young and cute couple sitting across from me. Mild sore throat. Will call mom shortly. Flight leaves at 8:15 am. I need a nap.
8 pm I am now at my homestay. I'm thinking maybe I'm not the girl I thought I was. Let's just say the standard of living is *significantly* lower. I almost cried when I went into the bathroom. Concrete walls, no toilet seat, everything smells.
My room is a 3-inch thick mattress and I can feel the slats under my back. I think I could deal with it better if there wasn't actually a large family that lives here (9 people). They are very nice and dinner was tasty, but seriously, everything smells--like mothballs, like some weird perfume. I have a sheet and a pillow. I'm so tired and I hope things look better tomorrow.
The 1.5 hour taxi ride in the dark was also terrifying. I really don't know what I am doing and don't want to burden my host family. I'm afraid of the shower. So basically, I'm hiding in my room, hoping that exhaustion and earplugs will take over.
