I think we may have made a serious error of judgment, four years of South Australian winters has made us think its easy over here in Oz compared to the UK, but Victoria is bloody freezing and its still Autumn! We were starting to get a bit chilly in the van before we started our house sit, now we are here its gone really cold. It's going to be hard back on the road, hopefully not to cold in-between house sits and work-aways but I'm worried we don't have adequate gear, maybe we should have set of in spring?

To late now, we have made our bed, saying with Dexter the loveable pooch has been fun, he loves to be mischievous, long walks and have people around with him in the day. We have enjoyed a few weeks of home oven cooking and domestic bliss, we haven't been to bored as we thought we might, I think now the cold weather has set in we are just enjoying reading and catching up on some lazy time.

We managed to do our chores, cleaned and serviced the van, cleaned ourselves and washed all our dirty pants. Ballan has been a good base and we could imagine settling down in a place like this, but I need to resist the temptation of getting a job just yet, it would be way to easy to settle back into a routine here, there is plenty of work and with Melbourne on the doorstep we could easily settle back into the 9-5.

The train is only 15 bucks for a off peak return to Melbourne, even though we have been before it would be rude not to go again! When we arrived we had sever sensory overload, I though we had experienced something similar in Ballarat after bush camping for so long but this was something else, we seemed to spend the first few hours whizzing around taking it all in like some set of culture starved crazy people, we dashed around sipping fancy coffee, enjoying the urban mess, shopping, eating from the amazing mix of Asian food on offer, after lunch we were completely buggered.

I wanted to at least go to the Contemporary Art gallery, somewhere we hadn't had time to go to in the past, so we dragged our weary legs there and that was it we were done. Why is it you can walk in the country for hours on end and end up with a tiredness that makes you happy and relaxed, a few hours in the city and I don't feel like my legs work at all. We hopped on the tram and crawled into the first Irish bar we saw for the rest of the afternoon and drank our cares away.

I miss crazy Melbourne, possibly as it reminds me of crazy Manchester, I miss the mentally unstable people living on the edge, like the woman who screamed at Sharon today. When this lady stopped to let Shaz through a crowded lane way Sharon lost her mind for a second and thanked her, this is the city Shaz are YOU mad? The woman quite rightly lost her shit and started screaming at Sharon to stay the hell out of her business!

This is city life, thats what you get for being polite, back to the country with you.
