After booking our ticket to Ubud, we decided to do some Kuta style shopping, well we had a fair while to go. After bartering hard, purchases were made, lunch was eaten and then we were packed onto our sweaty minibus bound for Ubud. As we set off inland the scenery became greener and greener and we headed inland until, 2 hours later, we reached Ubud. My first impression was one of beauty, such a lovely place with rice terraces and ardent scenery filling every lens.

The usual touts hung around the station and after following Eve's recommendation, we decided on Gusti's Garden Bungalows. 2 minutes later, we were whizzing along Ubud's cobbled streets on motorbikes, with backpacks and then we arrived. 'That was strange, I am sure you said 15' was Tilly's response after the motorbike driver tried to put his prices up. He did laugh and 15 it was.

Gusti's Garden Bungalows were a little over budget at $15 a night, gee whiz we hear you say, but hey, lets splurge! They were beautiful, set in landscaped, terraced Balinese gardens with a small pool and oodles of charm.

Ubud was definitely a winner, here we enjoyed our long awaited Anniversary meal a Cafe Lotus, another splurge, whilst watching the traditional Balinese dancing.
