We hit the road again tomorrow, but I must say our stay here has been great. The family & locals that run the place we are staying are very friendly. A few nights ago, as Sarah and I were in the "common area" and about ready to call it a night, the employees here offered us a local favorite: coconut wine mixed with Guiness. Yes, Guiness is here. The Chinese apparently think it has medicinal properties and who can argue with that. The resulting drink tasted kind of like wheat or oatmeal. It was pretty good and very potent although the small left much to be desired. the weird taste probably comes from the fact that the wine doesn't come from the coconut, rather the coconut flower.

Other than the usual (hunting for good Indian food, getting our clothes cleaned, etc.) we have been mostly hiking here. Today we caught a cab up to a tea plantation and processing factory. The scenery was great, row and rows of tea plants that cover hill after hill, and the smell of tea emanated from the factory. Tea plants (at least these tea plants) look like green leafed shrubs only a few feet tall and maybe three feet wide. To get the tea they take what looks like a giant hedge trimmer with a blower into a bag and trim the tea shrubs. Since the cab just dropped us off we had a good hike back, which was a good way to soak in the scenery, take some pictures, and enjoy the fresh cool mountain air.
