Here we went to Petra, the 'Rose Red City'. Basically it is a
mountain and a series of canyons that were carved out by the Nabateans
to make tombs. The entire mountain was a city! The amazing part was
that everything was so well preserved. They used this narrow canyon
as an entrance to their city, with water channels carved out of the
rocks for plumbing. We explored these ruins for two days, ten hours a
day and still didn't see eveything. The nabaeteans inhabited Joordan
and Syrian around the time of the birth of Christ, but were
assimilated into the Roman Empire.
