I am currently on my last bus ride and heading to San Diego. I'll take advantage of the 2 hour 20 minute ride as well as the free internet to catch up on my blogs from LA and Vegas.
It was nice to get to Los Angeles after my longest bus trip (7 1/2 hours from San Francisco) and meet up with Jerry and his friend Eric. This is my fourth trip to Los Angeles and I have stayed with Jerry for at least part of each of those trips. The three of us headed to Downtown LA for to meet up with Chang-sook, a friend from Korea who I hadn't seen in nearly 10 years. It was an enjoyable evening of eating, drinking, and reminiscing about the past.
The next day after watching "Horrible Bosses" with Jerry and his roommate Brett in Hollywood we met up with Jan, another friend from Korea who had just moved to LA from Hawaii a few months earlier. The agenda for the night included heading to East LA and Chavez Ravine to go see the Dodgers. Dodger Stadium was a bit different than other parks in that when you enter the stadium you are in the upper sections and you have to walk down towards the field and lower sections. Since Jan is in the military he was able to get us discounted tickets down close to the field. The game was exciting with the Dodgers scoring the lone run in the bottom of the eighth and the Padres stranding runners in scoring position in the top of the ninth. After the game we were able to go down and walk around the outfield grass during a 15 minute fireworks show. On Saturday Jerry, Brett and I went down to the wharf in San Pedro for lunch with Clyde and Lila, a couple of investors in Jerry's upcoming movie project.
Before heading off to Las Vegas we headed down to Anaheim to catch the Angels-Mariners day game. Just like with the Dodgers game a couple days earlier it was a pitching duel until the Angels broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 8th with 2 runs and then closed off the Mariners in the top of the 9th. Vegas!
