After bumming around for 5 days near Mt. Pinatubo and in Manila I flew down to the Island of Cebu. I planned 4 days here and the nearby island of Bohol, where I could go and see the famous Chocolate Hills and enjoy the nice white sandy beaches that are seen on the postcards. Unfortunately, after the first night in Cebu I woke up with the chills. I also noticed a little bump on my upper shin but never paid it much attention as I was more concerned with what I thought was food poisoning. Strangely enough even after spending the morning in bed (except when vomiting in the bathroom) and under the covers I got on the ferry to Bohol, where upon arrival and checking into my hotel I got into bed where I was to stay for the entire 2 days, no Chocolate Hills or white sandy beaches on this trip! When it came time to check out I finally pulled my self out of bed and was feeling better since I hadn't vomited in over a day and my fever had finally broken, however I could barely stand up because my right leg was in severe pain and had swollen to twice its size. I quickly realized I hadn't been suffering from food poisoning but that little bump, which was now an open wound on my leg was the cause of my problems. I hobbled back onto the ferry back to Cebu and went to the hospital where I was admitted for 3 days hooked up to an IV getting antibiotics. Now that I have been discharged (leg still swollen) and are on antibiotic pills I have made my way back to Manila and have a flight back to the UAE in a few hours. What a way to end my trip!
