So with all our visas in order, we headed westward to the Atlantic resort of Kribi. The journey here, on good smooth roads, takes you through towering jungle so lush you can almost see it grow.  So intensely green you wonder if trees in England are the same colour.  So oddly shaped they look like something out of the Lost World.

But of course this enormous tangle is not continuous, and the world's insatiable desire for all things palm-oil is laid evident here in the ordered straight lines of mile upon mile of palm plantations.

There is still plenty of the more interesting jungle left though thankfully, and we stayed in the midst of it, in a self-catered apartment which cost the extortionate rate of CFA15,000 (20) per night for the four of us (Scott, Roger and the injured Rob).  Wow, what a place.  Kitchen, bathroom, lounge, veranda, garden and onsite security guard, all surrounded by screeching jungle and gorgeous beaches and lagoons just 100m away.  Just the kind of place to rest up for a few days...

Jude on

Definitely looks challenging, its kind of challenging because am a Cameroonian and have never gone to any of the places you have been passed through in Cameroon. It makes me realise with dread that foreigners know my own country than i do. Thanks for the eye opener and more power to your elbows. I would like to know where you stayed in Kribi, from what you say here, I think the place will be good to lodge at for an eventual trip there to discover my country more. email me at njjude@yahoo.com.Thanks.
