We travelled from Durban in the morning around 6.30am to Hluhluwe Game Reserve.
Arrived there at Memorial Gate around 9.00.
Near the first mudhole there was a carcase of a buffalo and nearby was this lion.
We travelled into the park and saw 4 out of the big 5.
Lion, buffalo, elephant, and rhino were a common sighting.
On a relatively overcast and cool day the animals did not have to seek shelter.
With the recent rains in the area it was quite lush and green. Although there was long grass around, from a high vantage point we were able to spot game.
As we were about to leave the park this lone male lion woke up and began walking towards the buffalo carcas.
The Nikon D700 pulled off that shot in amazingly poor light conditions.
