Skipped like a stone across the pond to land two hours ago at Borisopol. Hermes was kind. Morpheus didn't even try. Did my American Zombie act through passport control, scribbling my entry visa in line to proffer to a heavyset woman in braids, changed dollars to hryvnias and hailed a cab for the Radisson where I stayed on my last visit, where I knew I could get a WiFi connection. Igor, my driver, forgot to turn on the meter, but he was a trustworthy sort I think and we settled on something which might have been a fair fare. He could not have been out of diapers during the Orange Revolution, but was keen to chat about Ukranian history. He wrote down the name of a town near Lviv he thought I should visit (can't recall right now which as his note is buried somewhere in luggage).

Now pondering my next move in the bar over a Glenfiddich that cost the same as my cab fare. I heard from Katya, whom I met on my last trip here. There was talk of her accompanying me to Lviv, but much is in play at this point, so I need to explore how I might board the night train there tonight. No hotel reservations here tonight, so it's more than an option. Hoping I can land a soft class compartment and get some sleep along the way.

Camera is still packed but here's a nice shot of Rodina Mat, the circa 1969 titanium giant that dominates the Kiev skyline. Cute but not my type.
