Paying of
the police!?

Interesting
thing happened the other day…I was driving through Arusha, minding my own
business when I was stopped by the police, the real actual police in Arusha, he
asked me for my drivers license, checking out the car checking the tax and
license sticker clearly without reading them, actually doubting he could (not
kidding!) so far so good everything was apparently in order…Now hereīs where
the fun begins, with me in the car was Petit, a Ugandan girl, speaking Swahili
(my Swahiliīs still somehow rusty) so the police turns to her, and in Swahili
asks her if Iīm the one, meaning the one sheīll
snare and squeeze money out of… actually telling her to make sure sheīll
get it all!? WTFCK Arushas finest, encouraging someone to steel my money and
understood whatever she can lay her hands on … and that’s not the end of it
ohnooo… just before returning my drivers license he tells her to tell me to
give him 10000 TSH (about 6 Usd) Now Petit has been laughing her head of all
the time, telling him “No I won’t do that”, then he bargains and says, ok, just
5000TSH (3Usd) for lunch !?  witch she
tells me and I really have to give him the 5000Tsh for lunch…I got my license
back and of we went… I was told a story, a true story, that the police, if you
call them, needing them at your house because of whatever, fighting, break-ins
etc, they, the Arusha finest will actually ask you for gas money for their car
!?, if the burglar didn’t take it all… the police will probably  take what’s theft oh sorry I meant whatīs
left!  T.I.A… This Is Africa, right…! I
just hope Iīm not getting myself into trouble!

Iīm sorry
to say that it seems like the well diggers story has come to an end, they
haven’t been around for three weeks and even if itīs hard to get an answer on
how it went it seems like they did hit rock bottom, so for mow that story is
put on hold….but who knows they just might be back…    The Presidentīs in town (Wednesday), good
day to take a day of! So this guy,( excuse the language used, all the respect
to the president!) off course need to come and go so they close of all roads
connecting to the presidents  path
through town, puts the town on hold for about 40 minutes, then a quick zoom, zoom,
zoom  swish… and he passes, roads open up
and everything is like nothing ever happened …and same thing on the way out…
and we just lost about two hours, fascinating!

So this guy
comes up to me the other day asking me for money, he was desperate needing
money for his asthma medicine, which you apparently can buy anywhere, not
needing a prescription  Iīm in a hurry so
he runs a long (yes runs) for a while, finding out I’m not giving him money,
and me going with him to the pharmacy was apparently not a good idea, donīt ask
me why (yeah right), so he goes another way, and catches up with me the next
day, know that we are on a “yo brother” status he tells me he can’t lie to me…
he really needed the money, but for lunch , well he still didnīt get any money
but heīs a fun guy so next time Iīll ask him to join me for lunch…wonder if
heīll accept?

And there
was blood! Just got home from the barber, you who follows my journey knows that
to shave my head he uses a razor between his teeth… well ok, his fingers and
shaves… and today he missed, a thin cut just behind my ear it would have been
ok if it wasnīt for the after shave treatment with.. yeah that’s right after
shave… pure alcohol  maaaan that stings,
the head and earīs intact so I guess no damage was done was done was done
done…..

Correction!...
itīs been a couple of days… but hey! The well diggers are back…
