Elephants and circumcision….

What a day! Juuust a walk in the park they said, well and it was! But what a park….                   Tarengire national park, So there I was, 30 cm from a wild African elephant!
Actually there was 6 of themas close. She and the baby did push the car,
touched it and probably scratchedit with its tusk.
I know I shouldn’t so I didnīt but I could’ve… reached out
and touched it… Doh! And there was the cheetah with her cub, Moses said “sheīs
trying to sleep” but the beautiful animal was trying to stay awake, she kept
nodding off … big smile on that one! I posted a picture on FB, the twister, and
said that we ran into some problem…mnjae it just passed us and disappeared but
it was mighty powerful.  I couldnīt spot
any flying cows passing by though, as in “Alice in wonderland”
even if this, to me really is a wonderland.
We did run in to two Masaai boys, dressed in blac and with their faces painted
white… the story that goes with that….Masaai boys the age of 12-15 will go out
to live in the bush for three months  practically
by their own, their family keeps an eye on them but they canīt come home until
after three months, they sleep out in the open and the black close is suppose
to keep them hidden from wild animal (remember Iīm in Africa, right) the white
paintings in the face is some kind of “medicine” no further explanation was
given on that one… anyway when they been out there for three months they are
welcome home to a biiig party and their circumcision…which leads us to the
thing about the thing here… so no anesthetics or even a whisky no, what they do
is they go down to the very cold river early in the morn and dip…themselves,
standing there until they can’t feel (the) a thing and then… snip snip, welcome
home… NOW the very sad and short story..Girls, 7-9 are locked up at home for
three months and then.. mutilation not even a party…Thatīs pretty much my
day,Iīll let the photos speak for themselves….
