An extremely adventurous start to Salzburg - the taxi driver that took us to the hydrofoil in Budapest thot he's driving a F1 car and was doing 90km/h on a city street which I'm sure you're not meant to do more than 50km/h. Arrh... and the seat belt was stuff as well.
The hydrofoil went down the Danube - very beautiful but slow going. Took forever to get to Vienna, which meant we missed the earlier train to Salzburg. Finally got into Salzburg at 8:30pm and found snow everywhere! Yep, it's not every November and it's already snowing!
Salzburg is known for 2 things - Mozart and Sound of Music. Spent most of the 1st morning looking for Mozart monuments, then did the Sound of Music bus tour. Have to say, unless if you've seen the movie over 100 times (i.e. you are a SOM nut) I dont recommend you doing the bus tour... At least I got to see snow :)
Obviously Salzburg is known for other things - did you know that Salzburg used to be salt trading hub (hence "salz"), it was running by some dude appointed by the Vatican, and the castle up on the hill is the best preserved medieval castle in Europe. Spent the second morning up at the castle - quite interesting though the heavy fog sort of ruined it... But at least I got to see snow.. again!
