Heading towards Kakadu National
Park

We headed out of Litchfield via Batchelor to Adelaide River or the next night
to enable us to hook up to the electric to charge the battery for the fridge.
We enjoyed some wonderful Ausie hospitality& evening entertainment at
the Adelaide River Show Society Camp Site

Moving on the next day we drove north on the Stuart Highway and went up
to Palmerston again to top up food supplies, beer and wine as we knew alcohol
could not be purchased in Kakadu National Park. We turned onto the Arnhem Highway & passed by the wonderfully named Humpty Doo
then continued on to Fogg Dam (which is a left turning north off the Arnhem Highway)
There we loved the wonderful wetlands and array of fauna & flora to capture on camera;
including the beautiful pink lilies.

We joined a fantastic boat trip (Hunter Safaris) on the Adelaide River, to see the Jumping Crocodiles. Yes! it is a commercial business, but awesome to see these huge 'salties’ in a
relatively safe environment.

‘Brutus’& ‘The Terminator’ came to the side
of the boat to take the meat bait from
a stick held by the boat captain.  We all
had our arms and legs tucked securely inside
the boat!!  The graceful Whistling Kites flew above
the boat and took advantage of bait thrown to them.
There were many other birds to see flying over
the river.  The trip was goodfun, informative and
lasted and 1hr.

Returning to the Arnhem
Highway we stayed the next night at the Mary River Park, spacious & very quiet.  Lots of kangaroos around the grassy park.
