Correction
Apologies for incorrectly claiming that last weeks entry would be the most boring weeks entry in Travelpods history

Apology
Our friend Geoff arrived shortly into this weeks events therefore most, if not all, of the following entry will be made up or plain wrong as we have had very little sleep and much to drink. The good news is that, as I am extremely hung over, this weeks entry will be short.

Day 120 - Tuesday 23 December

Did some shopping. Got hairs cut. Watched the last Lord of the Rings film which was easily the best of the trilogy in a luxury cinema sitting in big leather reclining seats then went to Convent Road to check out a couple of bars prior to Geoffs arrival. Stayed rather later than planned then back to hotel for midnight.

Day 121 - Wednesday 24 December

Did last weeks TPod then got taxi to Don Muang Airport to pick up Geoff. All very strange to see him after all these months. Nicola of course burst into tears. Maybe she had a premonition of the nights to come. Geoff looking well. Less bald and much less white than we had expected. Back to hotel where I have set up a blind beer testing for Geoff of all of the local beers. Geoffs room adjacent to ours. Finish beer then over to World plaza beside the hotel where there are a couple of local bands playing outside. Geoff extremely impressed. Next get Skytrain to Convent Road where we hit the Irish Bars which we had checked out last night. O'Reilly's, Irish Exchange and The Barbican. All have rather too much to drink. Get bicycle tuk tuk to take 3 of us back to hotel. Geoff spots 2 American girls in another tuk tuk and climbs across traffic onto back of their vehicle. A Raiders of the Lost Arc chase then ensues of our tuk tuk trying to keep up with the one Geoff is hanging off. Dont know how we make it but we wake up in our respective rooms the following morning.

Day 122 - Christmas Day

Alarm goes off at 11 and we get up and give each other our pressies. Wake Geoff who brings a bag full of goodies from home. Thanks everybody. Open Champagne and take some snaps. Down to lobby for Christmas dinner. Meet Chris Conway, Food and Bev Dir., who kindly sends over another bottle of wine to our table. Dinner is an extravagant affair of Lobster, Tiger Prawns, Sushi etc although Nic is a little dissapointed that there are no potatoes and the turkey falls below her mothers standard. Dinner is accompanied by a scholl choir singing carols and looney tunes characters wandering about. Santa of course was there although his eyes were slantier than I remember. Wander up to 5th floor pool then wander into town. Decide to get train to another Irish pub but on way Geoff says isnt feeling too well so head back to hotel. Just in time as Geoff is violently sick. We put it down to the oysters which he was the only one to eat. Have a little rest then go down to the club at our hotel called Spasso. Very good, live band and Geoff enjoys the company of the local girls. Crash at 2.

Day 123 - Friday 26 December

Golf for P & G. Picked up at 12 and driven 1 hour to Pine Hurst Golf Club past the airport. Course not that good and we get Thailands least attractive caddies. P wins some Baht. Nicola meanwhile lies by pool and awaits our return. Dont get back until 7 due to traffic. Head down to You and Me, the hotels noodle bar which is nice. Across to World Mall again and listen to bands with some beer. Back to Spasso for last orders. Bed for 2.

Day 124- Nicolas Birthday

Up and give Nic her pressies. Have arranged to meet Mark, Michael, Kung and friend tonight. Get taxi to go to Grand Palace but find that it is closed at 3. Decide to go to adjacent Wat instead which houses the Emerald Buddha. On way traffic comes to standstill so reroute to Khosan Road instead. Really interesting place. Sit in bar and watch all the backpackers coming and going. Geoff eats a fried cricket, declining the other bugs available such as cockroaches. Says it tasted of nuts? Back at hotel we meet up with Mark in bar 494 in the lobby. Get free plate of canapies each which are lovely. Meet up with Chris Conway who books a taxi for us for tomorrow to go to Ko Samet via a golf course outside Pattaya. Get taxi to meet up with Michael, who is Marks brother and who also lives in Hua Hin, his wife Kung from Bangkok, and her friend Star, also from BK. Taxi driver takes us circuitous route so Mark insists that Geoff doesnt tip him. Driver loses the rag and tells Geoff to F his friend number ten. We all have good laugh. We assume that this was 10 on scale of 100. Brilliant restaurant whose name I have forgotten but is off Soi 22 off Sukhuimvit Road. Really traditional and Kung Star and Michael order all the food. Deep fried flowers, ostrich, a lovely pork thing called Naem pronounced as in N Irish name. All very good. Taxi, different driver, from there to club called The Bed. Really different place with two long beds upstairs which we all aly on. Geoff gets 3 massages and the masseur tells kung that Geoff has got a problem with trapped nerve in his back. Geoff has been trying to get this diagnosed by 'experts' at home and is therfore very impressed. Bar staff all young girls in suspenders which also impresses us lads. One has had the operation which may be the one in the photo sitting down. Decide for yourselves. Unfortunately bar shuts at 1.30 so an excellent night comes to an abrupt end.

Day 125 - Sunday 28 December

Taxi picks up 3 rather sorry looking individuals for trip down to Ko Samet. Stop of at Luam Prabang Golf Club, designed by my mate Jack Nicolas, which looks superb but is unfortunately fully booked. Luuckily course across the road, called something like Bhungan, fits us in so we hire 2 buggies, compulsory, and head off. Nicola joins me and my caddie, Rat. Nice course lovely day, good caddies and Geoff wins some Baht. Back to our waiting taxi and drive hour and half to ferry to Ko Samet. Pay taxi his 3000 baht, 50 quid. Have missed last scheduled ferry at 4 o'clock by 20 mins so have to charter speedboat. Another 1500 baht, which gets us to the island in 20 mins. Georgeous island and beaches. Our accommodation, Sei Keaw Resort is right on the beach although Geoffs bungalow is behind ours with no view. As we spend all our time on our balcony it is not a problem. Costs 800 baht for 2 rooms per night. Get bottle of Vod, Baileys and Kahlua for night of mudslides and cards. Beannie the game of choice. Nice dinner in restaurant. Early night.

Day 126 - Monday 29 December

Nic up first who secures 3 deckchairs in front of our balcony where we join her at 12. All get pedicures, manicures and massages. Swim and bathe. Geoff gets burnt. After more mudslides and Beannie have dinner then walk along to some bars. Play some pool and meet up with couple from Sweden, Ervine Maja. Good music and craic. Drink about 6 buckets of Rum, Vod Coke and Red Bull. Bar closes but DJ tells us of one which is open late. Start to walk to it but Nicola decides she cant make it. As P goes to tell the others to head on she dissappears. P cannot find her despite shouting her name along the beach. Decide to head back to bungalow to wait for her. As I approach who is she with but Dan the Canadian who has come all the way from Ko Lanta to meet up with us. Cant believe it. He has some other Canadians with him so we go onto our balcony and finish all our drink. Geoff arrives back with Irving who goes to his place and gets a bottle of whiskey. I am sitting here now typing this whilst the others lie in bed recovering. Am tired. Must go. Speak later..........
