We have spent the last few days in Cuzco. It has consisted of doing not much at all punctuated with pointless email conversations with the owner of Amazon Trails Peru.

It didn't help that we bought kebabs on Saturday night having returned from our Manu tour and then Lizzie decided to eat the leftovers the following day for lunch.  Not a good idea!

Despite our experiences on the Manu tour, we have still gone ahead and booked an eight-day jungle tour in the Iquitos region for a week or so’s time.  We are more confident over this companies promises and their reputation on TripAdvisor is excellent.  Nevertheless, we have our fingers crossed!

We sent some souvenirs home yesterday.  The postal system in Peru has a reputation for being expensive but we had heard that DHL could send a 1kg package to the USA for a only a few dollars, so we decided to get a quote on sending our 2kg parcel to the UK.  Shockingly, they wanted £185!!  Turns out the £30 asked at the regular post office wasn’t so bad after all!

After five nights back in Cuzco, we leave tomorrow to go to Machu Picchu.
