The sunshine has returned and we meandered inland along the Waitaki Scenic Route from Oamaru to Omarama.
Not only has the weather improved but the scenery also.
Stopped several times along the way and did a couple of walks - one being through hilly pine forest and along the side of Benmore Lake, which was the most beautiful deep turquoise in colour. The other up a steep track which was very narrow and had sheer drops. This proved a bit too much for me as the sheer drops gave me the 'heebee geebees', so I threw in the towel and we retraced our route back down to the start.
Also visited a place called Clay Cliffs - had to travel along a 7 km gravel road and walk away - but the area had the most extraordinary landscape.
Total today 180 Kms.
