The rain came back with a vengeance during last night, so much so that after checking the weather forecast for the next few days we decided to amend our intended itinerary to try and avoid the worse of the weather. Therefore rather than head west we headed to Napier on the east coast.

A good friend of ours - Rys (from Pete's schooldays), is in Napier for 3 weeks visiting his 9 year old daughter. We had intended to spend a day or two with him but later in the trip.

Arrived mid-afternoon after a scenic journey, but it rained for the whole 237 Kms. Good to see Rys and his daughter, Greta.

Spent a pleasant evening here and hope the rain stops so we can get out and about tomorrow.
