Spent the day with Dean, who has taken the day off work to show us around his adopted hometown of Tauranga and I can fully understand why he and his family decided to settle here as it is a lovely place, big enough but not too big.

One place we visited was Mount Maunganui which is next to a large sandy beach that goes on for miles and miles. We climbed the Mount - puffed and panted a bit - well Pete did - but glad we made the effort.

The town itself is very attractive with lots of nice areas and open spaces. Back to Dean's for the evening and our last night in a proper bed for awhile - but getting used to negotiating my way into bed via a little ladder.

Have to say a big thank-you to Dean, Jill and kids and George and Chris (Jill's Mum and Dad) for the hospitality they have shown - greatly appreciated.
