Samba show last night was an experience - plenty of flesh and beautiful costumes!

Today walked to an area known as the charming quarter and had a good wonder round. It is as the name suggests - very charming and very expensive.

This area leads on to another Rio beach - Ipanema - very large and beautiful with huge crashing waves at one end that attracts surfers and belly boarders.

The weekend is when the locals decend onto the beaches to mostly partake in fitness type activities - Pete and I thought about it but then thought the better of it and just watched instead.

Tonight we meet up with the Intrepid trip that we are using to move through Brazil, Argentina and ending in Santiago, Chile. We have already met some of our fellow travellers as they begin to arrive from various parts of the world -  4 Aussies, 1 New Zealander and 2 Brits so far. I understand the trip is fully booked and therefore there will be 12 in total, as that is the maximum allowed.

We have used Intrepid several times over the last 11 years and had some great experiences, therefore we are both looking forward to moving on tomorrow afternoon, the time is right as we feel we have done all we wanted to do in RIo apart from visit Christ the Redeemer which we will do tomorrow morning before leaving at 1,00pm
