Where I stayed
MV Aenne Rickmers
Wednesday 3 December
Red Sea N 23° 56.4' E 36° 36.6'
We passed Jeddah (and therefore Mecca) in the early hours. It's another fine calm morning, but the wire brush men are out in force and gradually encroaching on the superstructure, so it won't be a quiet day. Although we have just left the tropics, and the sun is noticeably no longer high in the sky, it is still over 33°C. (In another week or so, I'll be pleased to see any sun at all, I expect.)
At about 18:30, we stopped engines, just south of 26°N. We are now drifting, to waste time as we are more than a day early for our Suez passage. The sky is full of stars, but for obvious safety reasons the ship is fully lit, so we can't see them as well as we might.
