Where I stayed
With a 4 hour drive ahead, we made the most of a few hours in the morning for a walk to the Hospital de St Pau (an example of early 1900's Catalunyan architecture now undergoing restoration as a museum) and to re- visit some of Barcelona's downtown sights.
The motorway drive was uneventful other than being overtaken routinely; not such a surprise except I was traveling at 125kph and the pace at which these cars approached and disappeared made us feel like "hat drivers".
Eventually arrived Collias and to our lodgings which are as charming as the website suggested. A chateau belong to a wine-making family for 200 years, it is now a guest house. Now, we are in rural France, and a town of 500 people (?). So where to go for a simple meal? Agnes our hostess points out: a simple cafe by the river; a good quality restaurant not far; or if you prefer fine dining, there is a 2x Michelin Hat restaurant nearby though it is a little expensive...... Spoilt for choice! We opted for the second and the food was simply wonderful.
