Nice slow start to the day, time to sit in the sun outside our room for a while and enjoy the amazing view.
Stopped a few times at view points on the road toward LA and once because Garry had lost power in the car.....tends to happen when u turn the key off with your knee haha!
Called in to Hearst Castle as we went past it but in order to do one of the tours we would have had to wait 2 hours and then the tour took another 90 minutes so would have meant it would be after 5 before we got back on the road, so consequently just a wee toilet stop instead of a tour stop.
We stopped at a little town (maybe called Cambria), further down the coast for lunch, nice little cafe where we had a sandwich and cuppa. they had lots of arty farty type shops so we poked around for a while and Andrea and I managed to buy ourselves butterfly wing necklaces - no butterflies were harmed in the making of our necklaces they died natural deaths. We also had a yummy fill your own ice cream which had lots of lots of toppings..yes still kids at heart when it comes to ice cream!
Andrea had brought herself an iPad on the trip unfortunately it was not quite right so we decided best to get looked at before getting back to NZ, so stopped in at Best Buys on our way into LA - all good they replaced it. We got back on the freeway what a mission - took us nearly 3 hours to go just over 40 miles....traffic was unreal!
Finally located our hotel (The Varden) in Long Beach just before 8pm - trekked our amazing volume of large suitcases up three flights of stairs to our lovely but minuscule rooms. Very friendly place and the poor guy on the desk got to help us with our weight lifting!
Out for dinner to a Argentinian Grill, yummy food and home to play with suitcases for the rest of the evening.
