So I am sat here on the top floor restaurant having a beer after our third full day in the Phillipines. It has been blisteringly hot at a standard 30 degrees during the day and probably not far off at night (slthough we have finally figured out the air conditioning unit in our VERY basic room so the evenings are not too bad to sleep!).
Even though we have only been here for three days we are really settling in to the way of life and quite mental town that is Coron...imagine very bad roads, LOTS of tricycles (motorbikes thst are fitted with what is essentially a large side car for 6 people), motorbikes, the odd WWII jeep kitted out...and no real rules about who drives where....the people a so friendly and for some reason cannot stop staring at lucy, possibly as she may be the palest person they have ever seen!  The electricity is sporadic, the chaos seems unfathomable, yet for some reason is it absolutely wonderful!  Bakeries that sell fresh cakes and sweet bread for 20p per bag, street sellers selling meats cooked on a small BBQ and today we did discover the amazing Buko juice...iced coconut milk drink...holy crap its good!!!
We have been on a boat island hopping for a day, snorkelling'on pristine reefs and in inland lakes and lagoons thst shimmer at a warming 19 degrees due to the limestone salts.  The beaches are like something out of a movie and we did manage to have lunch cooked by the boats captain on a deserted beach, which was fresh fish for me and veg for lucy, although the mango, rice and cocacola made up for her lack of fish!  After a lovely rest on the beach we sailed around to a small island where the rather scarily named Skeleton Wreck was waiting...we jumped in and snorkled over the bow of a 140ft japanese vessel resting at a lovely 10 metres or so..... this was only day one!
Day 2 continued in is beauty and as it was Valentines day we decided that a good walk would be nice, up 719 steps to the top of Mt Tapyas.  From here we could see right across the whole collection of islands in the area and watched the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.  A genuinely magical Valentines day, topped off with a gorgeous'meal at the end of a pier. Bliss.
Today was a nice restful day.  We had a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit and banana pancakes then a wonder round the town...and early this evening before sunset we took a ride of death in a tricycle up the the hot springs which according to the english peoples dive computer who were next to us, where a cool 37 degrees.  After the climb yesterday it really did sooth our aching legs!
Tomorrow is dive day...3 dives...info to follow but i am very excited, DIVE DIVE DIVE!!!
this will be our last blog for over a week as on Sunday we embark on the amazing Tao Experience, comprising of a 5 day boat trip around the area, camping on deserted islands at night and exploring the oceons and islands by day, so until the next time, all our love...

Henry,

I hope you enjoy the diving. It will be a totally different world to the diving you've done in the UK. Look forward to hearing more about your travels (more ideas for my future travels).
