KLIA

Well after an arduous (what seemed like longer than) 8 hour flight with no leg room but with plenty of screaming children, we arrived at K.L.'s Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). This mini airport half an hour away from K.L. international Airport (KLIA) was much bigger and better equipped than we had been led to expect.

After much wandering to and fro wearing jeans, carrying packs in 30C, 100% humidity, trying to determine if we were in fact in KLIA we finally decided to ask an information desk. We were in fact in, the seemingly well equipped, LCCT.

Despite its facilities, we decided to stick to our original plan of catching a bus to KLIA and killing the 13 hours we had until our flight to Kota Kinabalu (Borneo). We had both heard mystical stories of KLIA as one of the world’s greatest airports (are we travel-nerds?), and figured 13 hours would disappear in the blink of an eye.

First impressions of KLIA were, well, underwhelming. We were dropped off at a little underground bus terminal and followed endless narrow corridors, through a large car park or two, until we finally reached a small food court. At this stage we were wandering what all the fuss about KLIA was about. But then we preceded to take lifts and escalators up, down and up and down the 6 stories of KLIA (each story the size or bigger of Melbourne Airport) for the next 3 hours trying to find somewhere to sit and rest. After I lashed out AUD $ 0.50 some of the best dhal  and roti I have ever experienced, we ended up here, International departures level 5 KLIA. On some black latex seats, only 9 hours until our flight to kill.

Haha, sorry, I guess LCCT isn't that bad, it has seats, an overpriced bar and a Mc Donalds. I don't know what you were picturing!
