We have come to Monte Verde rain forest to see the toucans, sloths and Capuchin monkeys. In fact we chose our hotel because the book says the white faced monkey come up to the back porch and eat bananas out of your hands. We must be jinxed because we have not seen any of the fauna we came searching for. So far we have done a night hike with a guide, and hiked in the Children's Rain forest twice. My two year old has logged some serious miles for his age. All to no avail...we are from Colorado and realize that this is not a zoo. We know we will have to be quiet and patient...tomorrow we will try again. After that we're going back to the beach and sunshine. This rain forest reminds me too much of the Appalachian forest I grew up in.

The Monteverde cloud forest reserve reminds you of Appalachia ? LOL
I grew up in Roanoke and hiked a lot of the Appalachian trail.
Never saw a single plant that reminded me of Monteverde.
Wrong place wrong time. The animals are nesting right now but the lack of monkeys is surprising.
Monteverde, like everything else on this planet, has been ruined by North American greed.
A beach is a beach is a beach. Go to the Osa and see Corcovado before the M-pyres greed machine comes and destroys it too !

NEVER FEED MONKEY's
We would like to see advertising where this hotel is promoting monkey feeding. Under no circumstances should wildlife be fed by humans, particularly monkeys. See 10 reasons not to feed the monkeys at the Eco Preservation Society Blog. The main reason is that viruses are past that they do not have immunity for AND because it changes their natural behavior and reduces their ability to survive in nature. NEVER, EVERY FEED MONKEYS. If a hotel is promoting this they should be boycotted!!!!
