Back on the bus again to Franz Josef. We worked our way down the west coast and stopped in Hokitika for lunch, I had a walk around town. There was a green stone factory/shop but it I couldn't find anything that I like- no that's not true I found loads that I like just not at a price that I liked!! The search continues for a green stone necklace. It is told that buying green stone for yourself is unlucky and that it should be given to you by someone else. Most of the town was closed but I found a chemist that was open and spoke to the pharmacist who gave me some powerful cream from my bites and said to carry on taking my anti histamines and that there wasn't really much else I could do. She did say that it was one of the worst cases she had seen and that I should consider taken Vitamin B1 as it gets into your blood stream and the mozzies don't like the taste, so I got some Vit B and that cream and then went to a vary nice little café for some lunch. The town was very nice. You could see the Southern Alps in the back ground. A very beautiful back drop.
I headed back to the bus, for the next leg down to franz.
We stopped at a deer farm as well, this farm was also famous for it café which served possum pies-no I didn't try one.
The farm had a small museum, but a few of us didn't really want to go in so we had a look around the gift shop instead.
While I was looking around I spotted a green stone necklace in the shape of a penguin. I had to have it, but I didn't want to buy it for myself-who needs to tempt fate!. I found Gaetana and showed her the necklace, she agreed that it would be perfect for my but I couldn't buy it for myself, so she kindle got it for me and gave it to me. I was so happy and grateful that I gave her present of $30 for here kindness. I don't know if this will work, I will just have to wait and see. Fingers crossed everyone-please.
You have all probably read me moaning about sand flies, well as that picture shows this is a sand fly-now can you understand why I moan. I had better get used to them fast, by all accounts when you get to Milford sound there are clouds of the little gits.
But I am now armed with my dettol and baby oil mix so I should be safe.
Back to the bus again for the last leg to Franz.
