I am an avid Penguin Book Collector. In 1935 Allen Lane published the first Penguin Book to create a publishing company that centered on good literature sold for the price of pack of cigarettes in a book form that would fit in a pocket. That's the history in a nutshell.
Now Penguin collectors are throughout the world saving Penguins from landfill. They collect books for many reasons but particularly b/c they love them. Some collect different genres and the cerise coloured travel and adventure books are particularly popular as are the green crime books. I like the old fashioned orange and white ones myself and the designs and illustrations of the book covers are also collected. The 1950's and 1960's are great.
I also collect the boxed sets.
This blog will highlight my adventures as I motorbike, walk and travel by car within Tasmania and the wider Australian community looking for Penguin books as well as recounting the areas and experiences as I travel the rest of the world.
I would love to meet others who collect Penguin books and also travel as I enjoy all travel stories.
(note: am sending this out to address book contacts, if you'd prefer not to receive it please send me an email and let me know c/-
