It was a rainy morning indeed in LA when we departed this morning!   Knowing we were headed for the mountains and higher elevation areas subject to snow, we were tuned in to the XM weather for the greater LA area.  Argh!  I-15 was closed at Cajon Pass and in Victorville - right where we were headed.   We pulled off to feed the truck, pull out the map and find out more about road conditions ahead.   The news was not good, and taking the backroads over the mountains didn't seem like a good option if the main roads were closed, so we opted to backtrack a little and take a round about 100 mile detour to Kingman.   Several years ago we took this south easterly route toward Phoenix and here we were again and still in the rain.  I have never seen so much rain in the desert!    I love the earth tones of the desert, but the added green from the rains made it even more beautiful.   When the sun finally broke through east of Blythe, it was a gorgeous and Frank had found a new route for us to take north toward Lake Havasu City.   So what started out as a tad frustrating morning ended up being a great drive on a new by-way and now we have someplace else we'll have to explore further on a future road adventure.  Took a little longer than expected, but the stop in Lake Havasu City to see London Bridge and play around a little was well worth it!
