We boarded the train from Berlin, and after two connections, and about four hours, we were in Borghorst. There to meet us were Ulrich, Angela, and two of their four children -- we felt so welcomed!
must go for now, will write later . . .
A few weeks ago, I was so happy to hear from my sister Jessie to say that she had been in touch with Ulrich (a friend in Germany who I had visited 30 years ago!). Jessie had told Ulrich of our trip, and he said he and his family would be happy to have us come for a visit. Through emails, I cautioned him on the size of my present-day travelling party, and Ulrich and his wife Angela convinced us they would like to have us all stay with them. This seemed too good to be true, as I had told Mark and the kids stories about my visit with Ulrich so many years ago -- his beautiful old family home, their farm, and community, the kindness and fun of his family and friends, and how that visit had been the highlight of my trip to Europe in so many ways. So this was really exciting!
