It was another slow start to the day.  Likely, it was because we had been up late, sharing in the enthusiasm of our apartment neighbours (a group of young men) had been partying the night and morning before.  Lying in bed at 7:15 am, I was singing along with them to their rousing version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in heavy accents which I couldn't place.  But that was fine, and we all slept in a little.  Anyway, we had planned to pace ourselves in Prague and not get stressed out about being on a tight sight-seeing schedule.  So sometime after lunch, we set out for the old town.

In the face of opposition from the kids, Mark and I decided to book another "hop on hop off" tour of the city.  We had done these in Lisbon and Istanbul and found they were great introductions to those cities and a way to get our bearings.  This one came with an actual guide, rather than taped information, who was well-informed on Prague and Czech history and who also had a good sense of humour (he brought the kids around a bit).

It was another beautiful, hot day, and the roof was off the bus -- the kids had to move to the front to get some shade!  On the tour, we saw so much more to love about Prague.  It is really beautiful, with its many trees and green spaces, the river, and the old architechture (featuring extensive detail in everyday buildings and the variety of building colours, all with their red roofs).

To the kids' satisfaction, the rest of the day was unplanned, and we did some relaxed strolling in the old town, got some ice cream, and eventually made it back to our neighbourhood.  Mark and I stopped in with our friends at the pub across the street and practiced our, "hello," "please," "thank you," and "goodbye."  We really enjoyed this chance for the two of us to get away for a little part of the day, and we were pretty sure that the kids enjoyed their space from us a bit too!

After our "date," we got the kids together and went to the restaurant next door for a lovely family dinner of Czech delights.
