After a long, revitalizing rest in the countryside of the Loire Valley, we were ready to get on our way again.  Prior to our change of schedule, we had planned to take the train and make our way through northern France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to arrive at our easternmost destination of Prague.  But with the new time frame, and our keenness to make it to Prague, we thought we better fly.

We drove into Paris-- luckily not right into the city! -- with not so much as a wrong turn, and we checked the rental car into Charles de Gaulle terminal right on schedule.  The flight was similar to the Victoria to Calgary flight (up, up, up, then down, down, down) but of course, the scenery was so different.  From high above, the patterns of close-knit, well-cultivated farms and communities through France, Germany and the Czech Republic showed a shared history, centuries deep.  This was such a contrast to the differences I always considered when thinking of these countries.

The red roofs were also a nice contrast to the grey sky as we landed in Prague.  And between the red and the abundant greenery all around, it was a beautiful, welcoming sight.  As we entered the airport, there was a different feeling among the people than we'd previously experienced.  Somehow, they seemed a little more relaxed, and right away, that made us feel quite the same.

At a convenient taxi-ordering kiosk, we ordered a large taxi and were soon on our way to the apartment.  Our plan is to stay here for 10 days, in the hope of getting a real feel for the city and the people of Prague.  We are really looking forward to it!
