After we left Japan, wearing shorts and Tee shirts, the next moring at sea we were wearing long pants and long sleeves. At times during the 7 days (8 actually because of International Dateline) it was around freezing.  Th highs during the day were around 40-45f.   We didn't spend a lot of time on our balcony or on deck.  Because everyone stayed inside, some of the Inside activities got pretty crowded.

Our regular 6 member Trivia team would meet a half hour early for cocktails.  Maybe that is why we only won once on the whole cruise.

We had one interesting thing.  one of the passengers needed to be airlifted to a hospital. The Captain found there was a WWII air strip still being maintained on an island in the Aleutions.  They made a detour and in the middle of the night, transferred the patient to a landing boat at took them ashore.  Because it was in the middle of the night it was hard to take photos.  Because it was such an usual occurance, I wanted some photos.  It is actually very comforting to know that the ship would go to these extra lenghs for a passenger.

Normally We enjoy the "at sea days", because we'll spend time on deck or wandering around the ship.  On our South Pacific cruise in 2011, we had wonderful weather and it was very enjoyable.  On this once 7 days of cold gloom was a bit much.  Overall we enjoyed the entire cruise, but this was a little disappointing.
