Up early on to the waterfront to catch our jet boat. We'd wanted to get out on the water and try some adventure activities on this day and it was a bracing start being carried along at high speed with a cold shower in the face. But it was well worth it. The views were breathtaking (or was that the spray) and we all had white knuckles at the end.
After a quick shower at the hotel and check out we headed for the zip line adventure above Queenstown. High up in the (introduced) fir trees we flew gracefully between the trees on zip lines and were encouraged to try daredevil stunts like hanging upside down while zipping between stations. Lots of fun!! Very similar to GoApe in the UK but they hook you on each time and it is only zip lines.
It was only early afternoon and we had time so we tried out the luge. The courses were fast and furious and we had a few fender-benders along the way.
As we had to get over to Omarama for dinner we moved on from activities and threw in a few sightseeing stops. Arrowtown, Cardrona, Wanaka were all visited, duly noted, photographed and admired briefly as we made our way. Wanaka caught Sarah's eye and the phrase 'when we win the lottery...' was uttered.
We got into Omarama in time for a quick Speights before wandering along to the pub for a cracking meal.
Plans were finalised over a whisky (or two) are now firmly in place for tomorrow's fishing and Dad and I are hoping to hook Dan up with some big trout on the Tekapo River. With good fortune tomorrow's entry will include fish pictures and happy boys.
