Probably the best morning so far, warm and sunny with little wind, the lake looks beautiful in the bright sun.

At last I am getting the hang of packing in a reasonable time. Too late as usual!

Only 200km to Seydisfjordur but I am still very concerned about my chain. Despite my good work on it yesterday, the riding around in the afternoon and evening appears to have stretched it again.
I am going to ride gently and smoothly today and curb my natural exuberance!

I head off alone, Nico has some more photographs to take and I will be going very steadily, he will catch up later.

The ride is a mixture of mountains, valleys and  flat volcanic plains, with more waterfalls in the mountains than you can shake a stick at!
I sadly eye the F88 turning to Askja as I pass. It is one place I wanted to go to but the roads were closed when I arrived and it is too late now. Especially with a dodgy chain and 250km round trip on gravel to do it.

I spot some people sat out in the sun drinking coffee, must be a cafe. It is about half way so a quick "U" turn and I pull in to join them.
The couple are Norwegian, they are in a road going BMW hire car, not allowed off the paved roads!
They have done the Iceland circler tour and are heading for the ferry as well .

I have a quick look at the chain and it looks good so I am a bit happier and drive a little faster on the last bit of the No.1 ring to Egilsstadir. I still try to keep it smooth and not get excited.
There are snow capped mountains on  the horizon ahead. It might get a bit cooler yet on the final run in.

One last bridge and into Egilsstadir, which has a half decent supermarket. The last chance to stock up at a place with any choice before the ferry.
