The plan is to head up to Latravik, the furthest point west you can travel in Europe. Though it might be a tad further west at Bjargtanger but you need to walk to reach that point.
I did argue that actually this is not Europe, this half of Iceland is on the American plate and slowly moving west.

It is 40km on gravel road and we have to return back to the same junction before continuing our journey north.
Great views made all the better by the brilliant weather. All along the route there are lovely vistas. Again lots of birds.

Where the road ran alongside the beach Terns dive at us to warn us to keep clear of their nest sites in the tufts of beach grass.

At the monstrous cliffs at Latravik are a twitchers (bird watchers) dream, full of nesting birds. Sea gulls, guillemot and puffin in large numbers. The cliffs are stained white with their droppings.

It is a shame we can’t take a different route back, but there it is, the trip here has been well worth it.
