I had spent a couple of days going around BsAs with Jess the ozzie loco chick, we had a good time. And I was, at last, with a carnivore (I had met only vegetarians for the past week), and I could open the last tin of Foie Gras that my mum had sent me... half of it on bread with sweet white wine, the rest on a big bife de lomo... turning them into "bife de lomo rossini" I guess... The wine is excellent here, so it was really a great moment.

While going around, I had checked out a few hostels in Palermo Viejo. San Telmo is nice, but most of the people I meet there are french or english speakers...

I chose an hostel that looked filled with latinos, which happened to be the cheapest as well. Upon leaving San Telmo, I was a bit scared, just as anytime I have absolutely no idea of how it is going to be. In that case I did not know if the people would be nice or if the atmosphere would be dodgy, I did not know if the hostel would be nice or full of bedbugs... but that's just like usually: go there and check by myself, it's allways time to go away if I don't like it!

I had a bit of a hard time to fit in durin the first two days, as there was not much spanish spoken...but the people where great, making eforts to communicate and to teach me a bit of spannish. Apart from the local Portenos (BsAs autochtones), there was a couple of painter from Honduras and Chile, a Chilean fashion designer, a Mexican artist, a Chilean architect, two Argentinian acrobats, and more Chilenos and Bolivianos and even a crazy Dansk who was the only european apart from me.

I got quickly into the culture, starting with the daily schedule: Do whatever in the afternoon, then have dinner late, drink on the terrace while chatin till 2 in the mornin, then go out in bars and clubs till sunrise, somehow go to bed, wake up at around noon and keep going... I did that for a few days, all the while trying to organise my spanish classes.
