That evening we were to meet other travellers at the night market. We left from the hostel late, as I had been feverishly giving some imfos to two french couples who were planning to go hiking in the Orkhon valley, where I had just been horseriding, in Mongolia.
There were in fact two places not too far one from the other, and we got what we came from: THINGS to eat!
What we tried:
- chiken, beef, octopus, hearts, all fried on a stick. Good.
- fried rice balls stuffed with vegetables. Goooood!
- fried scorpions. Very crispy.
- fried worms: these splatter into your mouth, as they are all juicy inside. Chewing the outer part of the worm is another story.
- fried snake flesh: it was awful! I guess we'll have to taste proper snake meat somewhere else
- fresh fruits dipped into liquid sugar: sticky but really good
What we did not try:
- fried snake skin
- fried hippocampi
- fried crickets or grasshoppers
- fried baby chicken (whole)
- boiled-in-the-eggshell chicken foetuses
- snails
- and many more that were not proposed to us...
I have put a video of the scorpions, you can see they are fresh and still moving while waiting empaled on the frying stick.
Healthy food, we had "a bit of everything", and I found these culinary experiences very interesting... to be continued!

Forbiden city by night, very good, thanks for pictures. Bon voyage a la nuggets family!!
A doggy taste in the morning....
Did you try to eat a peace of the human best friend?
Just for cultural purpose ofcourse...
Man's best friend
I heard about it being possible to have a whole puppie served to you.
Pnce I ate a whole chicken, I had no problem (other than digestive)with that, but the sight of a puppy in my plate would make me throw up I think.
On the other hand, once you've tried eating dog meat, your friends might no longer ask you if they can leave their dog with you while they are on holiday...
