I shall let you know what I did regarding the uppity taxi driver from my last entry (thanks for your replies as to what you all would have done).
So the options were:
a)  Pay him after arguing with him and then leave the vehicle to find the property yourself
b)  Refuse to pay him and go off and find the hotel yourself
c)  Pay him half the agreed fare and try and find a driver with some `knowledge`
d) Ask him to take you back into town so you can find your bearings and start again.

Well I actually did a combination of d) and then b).  I asked him, in my broken Spanish to keep looking as the book must be right (a footprint guidebook).  So after the taxi driver was told the address didnīt exist, by a man on a bicycle, he wasnīt interested in looking anymore.  I then asked him to take me back to town to where heīd picked me up, considering this to be a reasonable request.

Thatīs when Mr Man crossed the line as he told me that the fare would be double.  Why did he go there?  I didnīt know until that point that Iīd be able to argue in Spanish, but I did, albeit in bad Spanish.  I told him that I wasnīt paying double as he hadnīt taken me where I wanted to go in the first place.  Seriously, I was blind vex.  I took my stuff out of the mototaxi while continuing the discussion, so he wouldnīt be tempted to drive off with my things.  When he still insisted on being paid for driving me around and dropping me off in what to me was the middle of nowhere, I ran out of patience and Spanish and so my man had to hold some in English.  I had a shouting match with him, he in Spanish and me in English.  When he sensed I wasnīt having it, he drove away, no doubt cussing me good style.  Dude picked the wrong mujer to trifle with that day.

So, still angry I walked off to a local shop, all of ten seconds away, and asked in there.  The hotel was on the next street!!  Less than 5 mins later Iīm in my hotel.  It is amazing how brave you get when you have to be.  I think my stubborn anger helped a lot.
The idiot bloke on the bicycle mustīve need following me, as when I turned into my hotel I noticed him cycling just behind.  I couldnīt help but show him he was an idiot by pointing out the sign showing the number of the street.  I was still so vexed I could barely speak to the man in the reception.

I did actually feel bad for not paying him, especially since it was only about 25 pence.  Saying that, all he had to do was keep looking!  Also, it turns out that he was overcharging me by 50% as I did the same journey several times over the next day or two and was only charged 1 Sol  (he was charging me 1―).

After all that my hotel, when eventually found, was NICE!  I was in a big suite with a huge kingsized bed, seriously twas huge!  It only cost s/.40 (approx. GBP 6-7).  The bathroom was something else altogether and bigger than the one in my flat in England.  There was actually a bath (I havenīt seen a bath for ages) and the walls and floor were fully tiled, very nice.   Oh and get this, the toilet paper was scented and embossed.  Nothing special there you might think, but this was embossed with green puppies.  I held out as long as I could but eventually I had to take a picture of it. And towels, they were actually proper adult sized towels and not your usual `which part of your body do you want to cover or dry first`dealies.  So nice it was that I stayed there two nights instead of the one I had planned.  Iīd definitely recommend  Hotel Princess  Urb Sta Maria D-103, Ica.  If your mototaxi driver tells you he canīt find it, do be insistent.
