More time on bridge and in chartroom with officers on watch. Helmed ship for a while whilst approaching St. Barts. peter's talk today same as last week on the great clippers of the past again fascinating. We come in to Gustavia the capital of St.Kitts and there are fewer yachts and mega yachts than this time last week but still hundreds! We anchor out in the open water on the edge of the bay, Windsurf anchors close by.
Tender ashore to the town. I meet with a couple of charter companies trying to establish practicality of yacht charter in the future also chatted with a few real estate peeps re villa prices. nothing on this Island for less than £1.5m for a 3 bedroom villa!
Back to the ship by tender for a chinese themed buffet.
Started packing and tidying cabin ready for disembarkation tomorrow. Back to the town of Philipsburg by tender and the girls shop in probably the most expensive street in the world! i manage to find an open wireless network and answer various work related emails and work on the blogs. We then all walk around the marina to our favourite beech - Shell Beach. Sit and watch the yachties light BBQ's on their boats at sunset and listen to the band at the super beach bar. A beer as the sun sets and S's Margarita is very strong and she gets wings!
tender back to the ship and S and I attend Peter's talk - Curiosities of the sea! Not sure what to expect but he tells us about pirate attacks on his ships, stowaways, galley fires,altercations with the authorities and sailing through the med during the second gulf war. As always we are engrossed with his adventures and charmed by his bavarian accent and sense of humour.
All changed for dinner our final one!
A few drinks in the tropical bar on deck and chat with crew and fellow passengers. Shailja and Sharan are by now celebrities on the ship. Many of the engineering team and housekeeping teams are from Goa and are fascinated by having fellow Indians on the ship. Fish terrine and Beef Olive make for a super meal.
back to the cabin and S cant face packing so we crash out and she opts to get up at 0400hrs to pack and get the bags outside our cabin by 0500hrs!
