My last night in Dallas. One last run to Wal-Mart, a last go around Parr and Bear Creek (all you G-town peeps know what I'm talking about), scrambling for addresses and phone calls to relatives and friends...

What's going through my head? Nervous, excited, everything! I can't believe it's finally here... I started the application process about a year ago and here I am, about to leave.

What I'm looking forward to:
Meeting my host family
Getting my assignment and working with the people
Exploring Costa Rica
Becoming fluent in Spanish
Meeting my fellow volunteers

What I'll miss:
Convenience of 24 hour stores!
Anime...
Texas weather
Reliable internet access, electricity, everything else
Denton's funky restaurants and stores- although I'm sure there will be plenty of that down there
Road infrastructure
Triathlons and training- can anyone say indoor swimming pool?

I dislike the humidty and it's been very humid in Dallas lately. I keep telling myself that it's training for Costa Rican humidity, which is probably more soupy than Dallas can ever imagine being.

Please keep sending me emails and leaving messages! You don't know how much I enjoy it- even if it's just to say hello!

**Random bit of trivia for the day- My last movie to watch here (I almost feel like I'm on death row: my last meal, my last trip to WAL-MART, the last time to sleep at home...) My Neighbor Totoro.

PS- On a side note, go visit www.potterpuppetpals.com for fun entertainment. If you can believe it, I haven't been there in over a semester, maybe even since last summer (!) and Muggle Pants Animation is hilarious, especially Supa Dance Mix at the end of it. ::bother::

Lots of firsts
Hey Kira: don't think of it as lasts-think it as a whole lotta firsts! Enjoy training and meeting heaps of new, interesting people. It's going to be a great time.

And I think there are Wal-Marts in Costa Rica. They're called Maxi Bodega. No, really. Seriously. I think there are like six of them across the country.
