(The photos)
All the photos and videos are from my Veteran's Day trip to San Francisco to visit my brother Nick, his wife Jen, their 5-month old son Nicholas a.k.a. Nikko (NEE-koh), and my sister Katrina.
During my stay, we went for several nice walks in some of SF's many nice parks - I really loved that part of the city. We went to the Saturday Farmers' Market, which was great; they had a lot of cheap, delicious produce, fruit, breads, and more. Katrina and I went to Pier 39, a tourist area, and visited the sea lions. We skipped the shops, since neither of us have much money at the time, and the stuff there is over-priced and crappy most of the time anyway. But we did stop into an Irish gifts store, just to compare to ours back home in Butte and the ones I visited in Ireland. It was a pretty sad comparison, but we weren't expecting too much, so no disappointment. I guess that, once you've been there, anything else seems like a far stretch to match.
Anyway, we progressed from Pier 39 to the Buena Vista Café to have "the original" Irish coffee. I thought it had too much whiskey in it, and I also like to add Bailey's to mine, but it warmed us up (and lightened our wallets ;-). Kate and I did a little bit of wandering and shopping, and I think I got a pretty good impression of their neighborhood, without spending too much time sightseeing (which I find to be very exhausting).
All in all, I had a wonderful time. And, most importantly, I got to spend a lot of time with my adorable nephew, this being the first time I got to meet him. A good weekend indeed!
