This location was another pleasant surprise for us. We stayed in a decent hotel but it had another 1 inch thick mattress, something I really don't like. Our hotel was on the beach and our room was up in a garden about 50 meters from the beach, where we spent a lot of time reading and relaxing between dips in the ocean. We did a dolphin watching tour which included two small islands. We actually saw a pod of dolphins but it is nuts because about 30 boats are out there chasing the dolphins.
We went to two small islands, Balicasag and Virgin Island. Both were pretty nice and on the first one a lady came to our table to try and sell us some stuff. I looked down at an item for ten seconds and looked up to see four other women with their trays of souvenirs on our table. They were pretty consistent and showed us about a hundred items. Each one had something similar to the other but different enough to make you think about what you wanted. We eventually bought some stuff and moved to another beach.
The next day we went scuba diving at Balicasag, the best dive site in the area according to numerous dive shops. We were not disappointed, in fact we were almost in shock at how good it was. There were almost as many tropical fish as Sipadan, even turtles! The coral was extremely healthy and we saw a school of large blue fin tuna and near the end we were in the dark shadow of a huge school of jacks.
We managed to go for a run out on the road connecting all of the beaches. It was very hot out and we still got a lot of 'hellos' from all of the locals. I got a high five from a kid and Bianca had two kids run with her. This was the kind of hospitality we have seen throughout the Philippines and I hope more people consider this country as a place to vacation.
