Up early, fantastic continental breakfast included and then we continued south. Much warmer day today - the cold northerly wind appears to have abated. We were amazed to see the expanse of produce farms along the beginning of this section. Also the many pumpkin patches with it being fall. We drove again along some breathtaking coastline. We hadn't realized that there were oil rigs just off the California coastline, more noticeable as we approached Santa Barbara. We parked by the marina and walked along the harbour wall before driving further down and walking along Stearns Wharf - had we known we would have parked on the wharf itself!!! Santa Barbara beach front was different great and Richard enjoyed seeing all the beach volleyball courts along the beach front. We really enjoyed driving along the coastal highway. Next stop was Santa Monica Pier where we parked and had a good old wander along the Pier and the beachfront - past Muscle Beach!!! Some beach volleyball being played at the courts by the pier.
Once again the highlight of the visit for the kids was the Sea Lions and Pelicans hanging around the pier. We all wanted to get out on one of the Whale watching trip but just missed the last trip. The prior couple of days had been great with Orca's, Humpback's and lots of dolphins being spotted. We will have to do that at Hermanus when we are back in South Africa!!!
We decided then to make our way across LA to Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Walk of fame - which was great. Spotted lots of interesting folk, the names of some of our favourite actors and actresses on the walk. Plenty of tours selling the yarn of a 70% discount to take a tour with them. The final decision to not go was made by Courtney when one of the operators offered to take her to see Justin Bieber's house - Her response AAAARG!!!! She does definitely NOT have Bieber Fever!!!
Then took a small drive up to the observatory to have a look at the HOLLYWOOD sign and managed to get up just before sunset which was great.
We had to get down to San Diego to Gavin & Candice Stone's place (who were away in Mexico until Sunday) so we needed to get south and it being a Friday afternoon it appeared as though this was the plan of a significant number of other people - so we experienced the Las Angeles traffic first hand but eventually made it down to San Diego by 21h00. A quick visit to "Flippin Pizza" for some supper (huge Pizza's - one and a quater fed our entire starving 6) and some online shopping for tomorrows tickets and we were in bed fast asleep.
