A relatively uneventful day, albeit the amazing scenary still surrounding us, we arose at 6:30am for the final time and tucked into a hearty breakfast of weird cereal and coffee. Old Greg kicked Rambo about 4 ft in the air for annoying his girlfriend I was given much beef about it until he apologised to the puppy and gave it most of his breakfast. Setting off further down the valley towards the finish line at Caraz the sun revealed itself in a scorchy, high altitude, oh shit my face is melting like sly stallone kind of temperatures and so made for a pleasant final day of walking. We sat down to lunch at another beautiful azure lake which apparantly contained muchos trout and so we naturally thought of George and how much fun he would have at this wonderful fishing spot. The final destination was about 3 hours of gentle walking away and was a small homely cottage with a mini trout farm, rabbits, chickens and the regulatory stray dogs. We were all pretty buzzard but very happy that we completed the trek and experienced the andean wilderness in all its glory. After waiting for the porter, Elmer, and his mules to arrive with our stuff, we got into a taxi and buzzed off back down the mountain, changing to local rammed collectivo at Caraz, and back to Huaraz for 2pm. It was possibly the best shower weŽve ever had after four days of grime build-up!!

That night we headed over to the guides office to partake in a pisco and thank our guide. It got a bit weird when he bust out a guitar and played crazy Peruvian mountain tunes on an out of tune guitar as we sat in silence. We also went out for dinner with ur small but perfectly formed group of trekkers and had lots of red meat and red wine, most tasty. Personally, I had a very interesting night with a bottle of laxatives, but as this is a family show, iŽll leave that for you to beat out of me some other time. All in all, what a first trek it was, epic experience - trying to get photos up asap, so hold fire, they are worth it!!

peace
