Instead of Sadov we have chosen a site within easy walking distance of Carlsbad. 'Site' perhaps creates an impression that we are in a grander place than the reality. True, there are toilets - in a shed but nevertheless clean and functional, and there is electricity but the only European socket available has been nabbed by one of the three Netherlands vans we have as neighbours. There is no view and wifi is 2€ on top of the 15€ nightly charge. Our four vans are squashed together and the drinking water tap is in a fairly squalid lean to - but position is everything and on the whole we're satisfied. We walked into town in hot sunshine and explored an area we hadn't been to when at Sadov. The buildings really are amazing as are the shops. Shop window after shop window is full of Bohemian glass and porcelain. As for clothes, designer labels everywhere and should you be interested in jewelry whether diamonds, coral or garnet, look no further.

I'm writing this at 3.21am as I can't sleep being over-excited at the prospect of a return to scootering. I'd given up on my Xootr push scooter as being too dangerous but walking is becoming very painful, especially as I now am suffering with shin splints. My last wipeout when I broke my hand convinced me that the best place for the Xootr was in storage. But in the Czech Republic we're in the heartland of scootering and feel I could be tempted to one of the Mibo range of pneumatic tyred scooters. It was the narrow solid polyurethane tyres of the Xootr that caused my downfall(s) but when I was upright on it getting about painlessly was a real pleasure, especially when I ceased to bother that some - perhaps most - people thought I looked foolish. There are several scooter shops in Praha. We will see .......

We wondered where & what you were up to. We have just had a few days in Paris for our anniversary. Good food wine etc., weather variable, as it seems to be everywhere
