Not having that much money I decided to fly to Broome missing out on a few things up the coast that I had wanted to see but thats life and arriving in Broome I found it, the sun was here!! Broome is a small town pretty much in the middle of nowhere and exists due to the Pearling industry where many backpackers find work however during my visit those who were looking only found long waiting lists to work on the boats. I spent my first 3 nights in the Kimberley Klub hostel which is commonly touted as the best in the area however I did not find it that socialable though luckily I did know a few people there from Perth so no problems. The rest of my time was spent at the Cable beach part of town (about 3.5km from the town itself) at the brand new Beaches of Broome hostel, very very nice though a little pricy and not too much of a party place however since we knew so many people from both the Underground hostel in Perth and the farm this was no problem and being near the beach was very nice. Broome is famous for Cable beach where the first international communications cable once lay and now its famous for its sunset camel rides (no I didn't do this!!) and the fantastic beach. The weather was also amazing during my time in Broome and the clear skies meant that gazing upwards at night was unbelievable too. Having spent 10 days in Broome, I did like the town but there wasn't enough to do to keep your interest and so it was off on a 9 day tour of the Kimberley region to Darwin with Western Xposure...
